Dear Aspirant,

The quote that you read as the header of this mail is one of my favourite ones. On a daily basis, there are many things we plan to do. As students preparing for the UPSC exam we might have said the following things to ourselves:

I will read current affairs daily
I will finish NCERTs 3-4 times
I will make notes for all the topics in the syllabus for Mains
I will complete the PYQs for GS and Optional

But how many of these do we actually do?

Even when we play other roles in our lives as a son, a daughter, or a friend, we think in our mind that we will do certain things. It could be the health check-up you planned to take your parents for. It could be a call to a friend that has been pending for a number of weeks. It could be a decision about your own health.

In each of these cases, there is a thought. This thought intensifies and becomes a word you say. Finally, these words are supposed to translate into action. Between the words and the action, the gap that exists differentiates us.

There are some who make it a point to definitely do what they say they would do. Each time they do this, they rise in their own eyes. These small actions compound over time into a strong sense of self-belief.

The next time you decide to do a particular task, observe yourself and see if you have managed to finish it.

I feel like this quote can be an essay topic. ~~Probably~~ I will write a longer article about it and share it with you folks by end of this month.

Analysis of an Essay

Learning how to write better is not always about writing. It definitely involves a lot of reading. In addition to that if you find any interesting essay, pause and try to break it down into parts. Then ask yourself why did I like this essay? I am sure many of you do this with movies.

You must be saying " The first five minutes gave me goosebumps" or "The movie was good but they ruined the climax" or "The songs and BGM were simply superb. It took the movie to another level"

So yeah, we can do a similar analysis of essays too. I have done one such analysis. Let me know your thoughts about it.
